BAND INFO

Genre: pop music and a deeper, darker rock discourse

Lyrics: All of the songs on Carolina Liar's debut album, 'Coming to Terms' reflect Chad Wolf's thinking about loosing his job, having a relationship go sour, and the anticipation of knowing that your life is going to change. Also, the realization that the past isn't going to change and that you have no power over it, so you just have to learn to deal with it.

BIO:
Carolina Liar exists today only because of Chad Wolf's determination, risk taking, and alota bit of luck. At 22 years old he grabbed his guitar, boarded a plane to Los Angeles and it was all up hill from there. Chad had jobs that ranged from working as an extra in a Celine Deon Video to even cleaning toilets for studio time. Thankfully, Chad landed an internship with well renowned song writter Diane Warren. He eventually took Diane's advice to go to Europe because she said that the people could relate to what he was doing and help him focus. This advice was the best probably ever given to Chad Wolf. It is because he had gone to Europe that he developed a great relationship with Max Martin, a world-renowned record producer of Atlantic Records. This connection later gave him the oppertunity of a lifetime and oh did he take it!
Atlantic Records produced Carolina Liar's Debut album and was released in August 2008.

Musicality: The rhythm of Carolina Liar's music is relaxing and is poetic. The rhythm is constant throughout the songs. The tempo varies throughout the album but is mostly slow to fast paced depending on the songs. For example, 'Show me me what I'm looking for' starts out with a slow tempo then increases in the chorus. Chad wolf is the only vocalist in the band and he sings soprano.

Artistry: The lyrics are beautiful. Chad Wolf collaberated with The Cardigans and created expressive an effective songs that really reflect Chad's life and experiences. If you listen to the lyirics carefully or just read them, they tell a story. The stories that the lyrics tell the listener can even relate too.

Production: The overall feel of Carolina Liar's music is pleasurable. What I really love about their music is that you can hear the induvidual instuments that are playing in the songs. For example, aside from the side that I love 'Show me what I'm Looking For' for the lyrics, I also love the instumentals. The sound of the bell chiming in the backround colaborated with the guitar, bass and drums is just amazing.

Critical Evaluation: Carolina Liar has alot of power because of their lyrics and instrumentals. When I played 'Show Me What I'm Looking For' in the car with my dad he asked me about the song and the artist. I was surprised he liked it but he said that it was because the song had meaning and it was easy listening. Carolina Liar has alot of potential for a broad spectrum of listeners in the future.

Personal Evaluation: The reason that I chose to make a media page on Carolina Liar is because I love the music that the band creates. I really appreciate the lyrics and they are really poetic and I am a big poetry fan. Also, the vocals and instumentals envoke really easy listening.
